RCL Appointment process
PROCESS FOR IDENTIFYING & APPOINTING ROTARY COMMUNITY LEADERS ZONE 8 REGIONALISATION PILOT
The period for lodging Expressions of Interest for the Rotary Community Leader role closes at 5pm AEDT on 2 April 2024. If there is no Expression of Interest from a Rotary Community Leader (RCL) candidate for a Rotary Community Group (RCG) by the time nominations close, the Regionalisation Steering Group has detailed the following sequence of actions: I will speak to club Presidents of that RCG, asking for a volunteer to fill the role for one year, with an option to do two. In this case the volunteer becomes the RCL with all responsibilities and privileges, including the training and option to stand for Rotary Communities Nominee.
If no volunteer is forthcoming, I will seek a volunteer from amongst current district leaders from other RCGs in this district.
This would be someone who meets the criteria and is willing, to fill the role for 1 year (like an administrator). While it would be preferable that this leader comes from a club in the RCG, this would not be mandated under these circumstances.
In this case the district leader becomes the RCL with all responsibilities and privileges, including the training and option to stand for Rotary Communities Nominee. The RCL appointed this way would encourage the clubs to put forward a nomination for an election to be held at a later date. In the event neither of these approaches produces and RCL, an appointee from the Regional Council will chair the first meeting of the RCG and ask them to elect a leader at that meeting. If an RCL has still not emerged, the clubs will be encouraged by a representative of the Regional Council to work together on a growth plan until such time as someone feels comfortable in standing as RCL.
